We began our morning doing scatterplot graphs and extending the T-charts with the data on them. Many students needed a quick refresher on how to do graphs and what a good step size/scale was so we'll have to work on that. Work was completed in class and is due on Thursday, so please get your graphs done for a quick check in the AM. You will find the Scatterplot checklist attached below!
We then took a moment to establish our new writing assignment. This assignment will use your descriptive writing skills and your recount skills. We did a discussion and brainstorm session about the topics and you all took notes on what we were covering for the poem. The rest is up to you and you can see the categories attached below. I have done a chart for the classroom and you will see it tomorrow.
After lunch we started our History unit and went over the specific learning goals for both the grade 7's and 8's for this term. We then took a look through our new textbooks and took some jot notes on some key ideas, pictures, and people from each of the units we were studying. I assigned you all to create a title page each to go at the front of your duo-tangs. They should be images about the some of the themes we discussed in class and in collage form. You will get some time tomorrow to work on these in class.
The rain stopped just enough to have a cold, chilly and windy outdoor recess and then we finished the day at the library. Most students were able to take a book out to read, and I expect to see those in class when you are all finished your work and have some time to yourselves.
Reminders for tomorrow:
1. Bring your I am From brainstorm page to work on
2. Finish your Scatterplot graph if you haven't already
